Suffolk Day 2018

Today is not only the longest day of the year, but also Suffolk Day where we celebrate all the wonderful places that make up my home county

For those of you who have never been here - it is an amazing county with unspoilt coastlines and countrysides, there you can step back in time to Medieval villages such as Lavenham, where they filmed Harry Potters 'Godrics Hollow'. Or visit a traditional seaside town, Felixstowe, with its newly refurbished Pier and Gardens.

At Shotley you can watch the UK's busiest container port, with huge ships unloading all the time, then nip across to Harwich on the Ferry.

Bury St Edmunds has the lovely Cathedral and abbey gardens, for a relaxing stroll around

And Ipswich, my birthplace, has some fabulous shops and restaurants, and the Waterfront - this is the statute of Cardinal Wolsey when it was Yarn Bombed! There you can also pick up a boat trip down the rive and pass under the stunning Orwell Bridge. The amazing Christchurch Mansion is free to visit and the surrounding Christchurch park is huge. If you are lucky, you might spot Mabel the owl in one of the old oak trees there.

I'm going to be spending the day in Sudbury, where they are launching a new Vision for the future of the town.

If I have tempted you to come here, there is far more information on the Visit Suffolk website.

Cat Number 3

No time to make cards this week as we have a new addition to our household - Jinny!

She is 6 or 7 months old and we have adopted her from Suffolk Animal Rescue after her previous owner died.

She is lively, friendly and very inquisitive.

Our other two cats are getting used to her - but Jinny is quite feisty and will hiss and bat them if they get too close.

Shabby Chic Cards

A couple of birthday cards made with bits and pieces with a shabby chic feel to them.

I make cards for the local Suffolk Cancer Campaign and they have just put an order for  lots more cards for their fundraising stall at various summer fetes, I hope they do well with them!

Suffolk Random Act of Kindness Day - 10th Oct

I've pledged to join in with the Suffolk Random Act of Kindness day next Monday, ATC's are no strangers to Random Act of Kindness or RAK's, as we often enclose extra ATC's as RAKs for swap hosts and send off CRAKs at Christmas and BRAK's at birthday time. I'm going to take in some cakes to the office as a RAK on Monday, I'll try and think of something else that I can do as well!

Further details are here. And I also recommend reading Danny Wallace book Random Acts Of Kindness: 365 Ways to Make the World a Nicer Place if you get the chance, both funny and inspiring at the same time.
